Usually there's more than one style / size of Widget.
If you Long Press on an empty space on the desktop, go to Settings & Toggle Off Lock Desktop, and then Long Press on the Widget, you should see an outline that allows you to increase the size of the Widget.
If that doesn't work for you, see if there's a different size of Widget available.
Different weather apps also have different Widgets available.
