I recently bought a 32 inch curved Samsung Odyssey G5 about 5 months ago. One morning I woke up and there was a giant bubble down the middle of the screen. Samsung said this was physical damage from pressure to the screen but this monitor was sitting on a desk and this “crack”/ bubble appeared over night and looks nearly perfect down the middle. I live alone so no one could have possibly damaged it over night. I have seen this issue on other forums and it only seems to happen to curved screens. I have seen other people post saying this issue happened to their Samsung TV. Has anyone seen a bubble like this appear on its own? If so what could cause this screen to crack on its own? Would this be a manufacturer’s defect?

Samsung reacted as expected "A crack doesn't occur out of the blue" and was called a liar by the phone rep. of Samsung support. I think Samsung is trying it's best not to acknowledge this issue. I'm looking at my options.

Same happened with me last week. Samsung guys are brushing it off saying that it's not possible to break on its own and man they are rude. I am officially done with Samsung.

Please share the outcome.

The same thing happened to me today. I have raised a ticket. Not sure if I have hopes.

The exact same thing just happened to my son's Neo G8 this afternoon. He was sitting at his desk playing and he started yelling that his monitor suddenly got a line down the middle. I went up to look thinking it may just need to be rebooted, but it is an obvious stress fracture. It isn't even 8 months old, has always been on the factory stand, and never had any pressure on it. This is a clear factory defect, and he is so upset!

We bought his from Best Buy and have a 2-year TotalTech protection plan, so I'm hoping they will replace it without any grief. But this is very concerning, and I have now seen multiple pictures of curved Samsung monitors with this exact same fracture down the center. There appears to be a major problem with Samsung's design.

This has happened to me too.  So this suggests an inherent fault. Several of us watched it move up the screen slowly like a worm.  No one was touching it. We suspect it is heat stress related or another manufacturing defect.

Happened to my 49” Inch

sent to Samsung for repairs but now they want me to pay 900$ as they explain the  crack is caused by external damage.
i did not touch the screen what so ever and it just suddenly popped and cracked from top to bottom

Has anyone had any luck with Samsung, I have had nothing but promise of call backs about this and the accountability fall to me which obviously is not the case judging by the comments! :(

I got the seller to refund my display after 4 months of e-mailing, calling and getting proof that  the damage was not caused by anything like misuse. The seller is still processing this with Samsung.

For NL/BE consumers you need to "proof" that you didn't cause the damage. I had a repair company sign a report that the damage might have been caused thermal/build stress on the panel.

Goodluck to everyone with the same problems with this family of displays. It's clear that quality control is currently shamefully bad at Samsung. Same goes for their customer support, when I first called they said there is no such thing as a crack happening spontaniously and never heard of this before, the person on the phone even called me a liar. Don't give up immediately and read your local law regarding warranty etc.
