In Android 10 we had the ability to set a battery limit which would disable the wireless Powershare function once reached. I'm suggesting the devs take this one step further and implement a percentage drop limit. Let me explain.

Currently if I want to charge another device while my phone is at 95%, Powershare will stay on until either the device is fully charged, or it drops to my preset limit. I have mine set to 30%, so if the device I'm charging is a phone, a fair amount of my battery will be eaten up. What I'm suggesting is that we can set a percentage amount we want our phone to drop from a certain point. For example, I'd set my phones battery level to only drop 15 percent from any point, and once my phone has gone from let's say 95% to 80%, Powershare pauses, the phone would buzz to let me know Powershare has stopped, and a popup on the display would allow me to continue for another 15%, keep charging without restriction, or turn off Powershare. This would be useful for those moments where you only want to share a certain amount of your battery.

This would work along with the current battery limit. Let's say I had a percentage drop limit of 15%, a battery limit of 30%, and I wanted to use Powershare when my phone is at 36%. Once my phone got to 30% Powershare would stop as usual.

An argument against this feature is that you can just make your battery limit higher to make sure you still have enough charge. That's true, but you'd have to change that almost every time you'd want to use Powershare based on how full your battery already is. The percentage drop limit would let you charge other devices without worrying just how much your own battery will drop because it will be the same no matter what percent your phone is at when you start sharing power.

sounds like you use powershares to charge other phones a lot... good idea... I think the design was more focused toward charging ancillary products... I use my powershare to charge samsung buds and watch. Rarely another device.

I wonder if it would confuse too many people though...mind you, the lesser tech savvy porb arent using wireless share to begin with

Why would it be confising? All it would be is a seperate toggle underneath the existing battery limit setting with a description saying "charging will stop when your battery level decreases by the amount you set".

the feature isn't strictly for those who charge phones. It's simply for peace of mind that when you pick up your phone it won't have 25% less battery (Powershare isn't very efficient) because you wanted to charge your galaxy buds.

That feature was available previously for wired PowerShare on the S5, Note4 and Galaxy Tab Pro/Note 10.1 2014, and pretty sure it was there on the Tab S (T700/T800/T805W).

If you never heard of it, that's normal. It required a special adapter and an app download.

Anyway, yes that's a great suggestion. File that under "well duh! obviously. Can't believe I have to spell it out to people whose job is to do that"
