Have you tried opening Samsung Internet Settings & Setting Google as the Search engine?

It seems like you are saying two different things. Are you saying that when you open Samsung Internet, it is opening Y*ndex Browser (which doesn't make sense)?

Did you go to Settings > Apps Search for Yandex?

You could also try Setting Samsung Internet as the Default Browser..

You could also try installing a Browser like Brave Browser and setting it (temporarily) as the Default Browser & then uninstall it.. that will remove any Default Browser from your device.

Y*andex is a Russian Browser, which does not have a good reputation.

Hi ggloria007,

Samsung Internet cannot have another browser (like Yandex) embedded into it. However, it’s possible that Yandex has been set as the default search engine within Samsung Internet, or that links are being redirected via Yandex due to another app or setting on the device.

Here are a few steps to help resolve this:

Check Samsung Internet’s Default Search Engine: Open Samsung Internet. Tap the menu icon > Settings > Search Engine. If Yandex is selected, switch to a preferred option like Google or Bing.

Check for the Yandex App or Associated Services: Go to Settings > Apps. Tap the search icon and type "Yandex". If you find any app or service, uninstall or disable it.

Reset Default Browser (if needed): Go to Settings > Apps > Choose Default Apps > Browser App. Set Samsung Internet or another trusted browser (like Chrome or Brave) as default. If you install and uninstall another browser like Brave, it can help reset defaults as well.

Scan for Potential Malware: Open the Device Care app > Security > Scan phone (powered by McAfee). If anything suspicious is detected, follow the recommended steps.

Let us know if the issue persists after these steps — we’re here to help.

Thank you.

thank you Helenna for your reply and suggestions:

1. Yandex has been set as the default search engine within Samsung Internet, as well as other unwanted search engines: bing, duckduckgo, ask jeeves and yahoo.. these were not there before (see screenshot)

2. When Taping the menu icon > Settings > Search Engine it is not possible to switch to a preferred option like Google. Yandex appears to select itself (note default)... (see screenshot)

3. I check for the Yandex App or Associated Services: went to Settings > Apps and searched for the "Yandex". I didnt find anything with that name. (see screenshot)

4. I reset Default Browser: Went to Settings > Apps > Choose Default Apps > Browser App. Set Chrome as default.  (see screenshot), but the Samsung Internet is still "unchanged by unwanted search engines...

5. I Scaned for Potential Malware: Open the Device Care app > Security > Scan phone (powered by McAfee). nothing  suspicious is detected (see screenshot)

All instructions followed but Samsung internet still show Yandex and the rest of rubbish search engines: bing, duckduckgo, ask jeeves and yahoo. (see screenshot)

How do I delete all of them apart from google? and more importantly how did they got on Samsun Internet? I would like to have option of Samsung Internet (as i got used to it) rather than use Chrome.

Please see all attached screen shots and let me know further steps.  Be aware that I am using A21s.

Thank you for your help.
