I bought a new Samsung QLED 60 inch TV and I’m in love but unfortunately the contrast or HDR changes depending with what is happening on screen! It’s super distracting and there doesn’t seem to be an option in Picture Settings or General to turn this off! Please someone help me!

Hi Mickey97, Samsung TV dims or brightens automatically, this isn’t a problem. It is a feature that Samsung has added.
Settings > General > Ambient Light Detection > use the slider to turn on or off.

You are incorrect as this is a huge problem!  I too have this issue with a new 65” and I can’t find a way to turn it off.

Every movie or show it changes brightness and color between scenes!!

I turned off power-saving auto brightness but this is still happening.

I just replaced a 15 year old Samsung that had no auto features that was perfect for this garbage!

Please tell us how to completely turn off auto dimming in this model.

did you ever get an answer to this "feature" that Samsung must know is a PITA and adversely affects their customers' experiences.

I've been on the phone with them for hours - but they insist that there is nothing wrong.  When they come on for remote servicing, they simply don't see what the end user sees.

If they don't get this problem sorted out - or at least acknowledge the problem, I'll never get another Samsung product again

hey there,

Have you had a chance to clarify your "...this isn't a problem" comment?  When I'm watching ANYTHING with a black background AND bright text, the text quickly fads to the point where it isn't readable.  C'mon folks.  This IS a problem.

PLEASE FIX IT

I just made an account to reply u , that problem is called samsung CE dimming which is implented feature that cant be turned off

Ive been suffering from that **bleep** for 2 years cause i cant afford to buy another tv yet

It ruined my gaming experience

It cant be turned off on my tv there is no option for that even on the service menu i tried everything BUT i think in ur case u can try to turn off HDR n maybe it will get rid of that auto dim issue i think its related to HDR since i only have that problem with HDR content

I dont have the option to turn off hdr on my tv too lol, but i think u can its called UHD color ...something like that

Otherwise u can try the service menu n look for the CE dimming on/off

But dont change anything else n take screenshot of ur service menu settings. Good luck
