Samsung SmartHub apps no longer able to connect

I have an older Samsung TV (PN51D8000) and most of the SmartHub apps have stopped working (they hang on connecting, or with the Web Browser the sites will return Server Not Found errors) 2-3 days ago (~Dec 18). Everything worked perfectly before that, and no updates were made to the TV or any other software.

My internet connection is good. All other devices on my network are connected to the internet. The TV reports as being connected to the local network and it reports as no updates are available.

I've tried:

changing the DNS server

changing the connection

power off/on of the TV and all connected devices, including the network.

Then I noticed that HTTP sites still work, so this looks like some sort of certificate/HTTPS issue. I can't even connect via the Plex app to my own local network because of this.

Samsung TV software version: 001034

SmartHub version:  3.745-6.0.0061

Sometimes with certificate issues, check that the date and time is correct on your tv/device 🤷‍♂️

I was hoping the time & date being off might've been the issue but even when setting them manually it didn't resolve the issue. The Plex app still hangs on connecting and the browser app still doesn't resolve any https address.

What else can I try?

I tried the apps on a whim recently. The Plex app is able to start up, but it can't connect to any online services (everything is HTTPS from them), and the browser is still unable to connect with anything that's HTTPS (which is 90% of the internet now too). The bare minimum of a "smart" TV should be the ability to at least maintain the certs so they don't break.
