Most people prefer samsung pay over google pay. Can I ask the reason , I prefer google pay over samsung pay. QR codes from every app can be transfered to google but samsung doesn't support majority of the membership cards and some small credit union cards.
Samsung Wallet will support pretty much anything that Google Wallet can support.. it's not the app, it's the Financial Institutions that decide which payment apps THEY will support.

I guess most people just like using native apps for their devices. I use both personal. I use Samsung pay for loyalty cards and payments and Google wallet for my Presto card because annoyingly it's not supported by Samsung pay as yet. 🙄
Samsung wallet requests to use an extra security layer ( either fingerprint, facecognition, or 6 digital secure codes) when opening a payment car stored in the wallet, but Google wallet only depends on phone's security layer. It's the reason why I like using the Samsung Wallet. I installed both wallets on my phone but only installed Samsung wallet on my Galaxy watch 6 classic. I haven't used my physical wallets for about 10 years
