It's come to my notice that when I try using a particular zoom lens the camera still uses a different lens and not a dedicated lens.

For example, if I'm using a 3x zoom the camera app still uses 1x
Same with 10x, the camera still uses 3x magnification lense. It would not switch to the dedicated 10x immediately. It switches eventually, but not sure what triggers the switch.

I was in a concert last night and wanted to use the 10x for a sharper image, but it still was using the 3x lens to capture images. It would switch to 10x randomly, then I would get a better image quality all of a sudden. It does not switch to 10x even if it set zoom all it way up 20x, 30x does the job sometimes.

Note: I confirmed this by placing my finger on the lens to see if it was using the correct one, but apparently not, it wasn't.

I also reset the camera app and cleared cache, still no effect. Also. Auto framing was turned off on all occasions.

Lmk if anyone's facing same issues.

Do you have the good lock app installed by any chance? I think it has an option for auto switching lens if I remember correctly.

Hmm weird. Is it possible to take a screen recording and share it so we can see the camera lens behavior?

Download the camera assistant app made by samsung. And disable auto lens switching Screenshot_20230501_140313_Camera Assistant_1000016852_1682964232.jpg

Did not know this app existed. This seemed to have solved the issue. Thanks! Will keep monitoring just in case.
