Hey folks, was wondering if anyone can help. When I take close up food pics the camera on my s20 ultra blurs out whatever it's not focused on (I hate that), anyone know how I can get it to stop doing that please.

Your help is appreciated. Picture below for reference

Hi YoYoUptown,

The definition of the photos may be affected by the distance between the device and subjects when taking photos. If you take the picture of the objects to too close distances that Auto Focus may not be available normally, taken subjects may be blur and unclear.

Also, check for updates if available, update the camera app.

As mentioned by our community members you can try the pro mode also.

Thanks, Everyone for sharing your suggestions and helping the members in solving their query.

One other thing to note is that the main sensor on the Ultra is extremely large. That, along with the wide aperture, results in an extremely fast shutter speed. Large sensor+fast shutter speed=very shallow depth of focus.

TL;DR. It's normal for the Ultra to have an extremely shallow focus area when shooting objects up close.

the only way to get the right focus with the ultra is by taking a picture when you have zoomed the image X2...this is exactly what the advertising of the macro mode does so after that you can take near object
