S9+ software support

Hey I'm just wondering how software support updates may possibly be on samsung devices that are 2 years old, since the galaxy S9's are turning 2 years old this feb/march. I've seen that samsung will likely switch to quarterly updates at some point, but should my S9+ still be receiving monthly security patches for about 1 more year?. Then does it switch to quarterly security patches, at 3 years?. I'm mostly asking because I want to try and make the most out of my S9+ and when would/could be the best time to upgrade.

The current software policy is 3 years of monthly updates and a 4th year or quarterly updates, of course starting from the moment it gets sold.

So yeah, you still got one year and 3 months of regular updates and a 4th bonus year.

so I guess that means my mother in-laws S7 edge will no longer be supported soon.

like T-Bone , i am surprise...3 years of monthly updates is what i expect + another year in bonus WOW.

Why do we read everywhere it is 2 years monthly  + 1 in bonus for security ? We were wrong ?

Cassidy it's a new thing since the S9. This new policy is retroactive to the S6, S7 and S8, along with their equivalent Note and main Galaxy A device (A5 2017, A8 2018, A50) as well.

In Canada, it's not supported anymore since August for some reason while it got the December patch in Europe.

@tbone Thanks for asking this question. Good to know that I will be able to get at least 3 good years of support on my S9+. Just in time for the S12 / S20 😉

ha ha I'm kinda thinking the same thing. 🙂 but we will see.
