All the videos tell me the same thing that there was an error playing or the file can't be supported or something along that line

Is there any error message?

Maybe post a link to one of the videos that doesn't work for you...

Its videos that hv been sent or taken on my phone already that aren't playing. I can still watch ig reels but stuff like Snapchat videos or stories don't bother buffering they just skip to the next photo

It might be due to the video Format?

What Format are the videos that don't play?

mp4 is the most commonly usable Format for Android.

AVI & MKV are likely to be less compatible.

Regardless, if the videos are not mp4, you should be able to convert them to mp4 to be able to view them.

Also, if you're trying to view them with Samsung's Gallery, you could try a different gallery app, I use F-Stop Gallery.

Hi Ojiseek,

It is unusual to hear that you are experiencing issues while playing videos. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and will do our best to assist you in resolving the matter. If all videos are showing errors like “There was an error playing” or “File can’t be supported,” it’s likely due to one of the following:

Possible Causes

  1. Corrupted or unsupported video format Some apps or browsers may not support certain file types (e.g., MKV, MOV, or high-bitrate MP4).

  2. Outdated media player or browser If your video player or browser isn’t up to date, it may struggle to decode newer formats.

  3. Storage or file system errors If the video is stored on a corrupted SD card or internal memory, it may not load properly.

  4. Permissions or app restrictions The app may not have permission to access storage or play media in the background.

  5. Network issues (for streaming) If you're streaming, unstable internet or region restrictions can cause playback errors.

Suggested Fixes

  • Try a different video player: Use apps like VLC or MX Player, which support a wide range of formats and codecs.

  • Update your apps and browser: Make sure your video player, browser, and system software are all up to date.

  • Clear cache and data: Go to Settings > Apps > [Your video app] > Storage > Clear cache and data.

  • Check file format: If possible, convert the video to a more compatible format like MP4 using a video converter.

  • Test the video on another device: This helps confirm whether the issue is with the file or your device.
