Galaxy ANo, it shouldn't take this long to get the explanation, as to why a file explorer needs telephone permissions.
There is no legitimate reason regardless of Samsung's reply.

Galaxy AFrom my previous post here:
"No, it shouldn't take this long to get the explanation, as to why a file explorer needs telephone permissions.
There is no legitimate reason regardless of Samsung's reply."
Thing is that Samsung CAN'T give you any legitimate reason & they are hoping that you just forget about it.
There's no way, that it would take a month to explain why My Files "needs" those permissions.
They don't want to answer the question.

Hi RedDogRabbit,
1) In case of preloaded applications, they automatically get the telephone permission on request of READ_PRIVILEGED_PHONE_STATE and READ_PHONE_STATE.
These STATEs are an option of SYSTEM_FIXED and so users can not change the telephone permission.
2) My Files may sometimes use mobile data for checking if it's the latest version.

Galaxy ALike I said, there's no legitimate reason for My Files to require these permissions. It is purely a decision made by Samsung to impose these permissions on the user.
There is no legitimate reason for this:
"1. In case of preloaded applications, they automatically get the telephone permission on request of READ_PRIVILEGED_PHONE_STATE and READ_PHONE_STATE."
*It's not required by ANY OTHER file explorer.
This hardly an "option" for the user:
"These STATEs are an option of SYSTEM_FIXED and so users can not change the telephone permission."
There's no legitimate reason why, My Files HAS to use Mobile Data, it could just as easily use WiFi.
"2) {Application X} may sometimes use mobile data for checking if it's the latest version."
