Hi, i know that some people are waiting for my opinion about the camera's capacity compare to my Canon R7 with Sigma 150-600mm C X 1.6 on APS-C sensor. (920mm and 240mm)

I am really surprise about the capacity of the S23 Ultra zoom at 30X and 100X and here are some pictures for comparaisons. iF I HAD SAME SPEED ON BOTH, I'll probably get betters images on the Samsung (but we can't play with the speed on the S23Ultra in 100X Mode and at 100X we should have a 1/1000 sec speed because the 100X equal the 920mm of my Sigma Lens and in photography we recommand to put 1/ lens focal ...I think that to get the same result, we have to place the S23Ultra on a tripod when we choose 100X. Note that you have to disable Image Stabilizer when using a tripod.

Hey Samsung's developpers, did you remember the Photographie's rules ? To get a none shaky picture, we need to put the speed 1/ ? seconds on the focal length of the device...This is for all devices in the world.

At 30X on Samsung on the 230mm lens and at 240 mm on the Sigma (150mm x 1.6)

Here is Samsung 100X and Sigma at 920mm9600mm x 1,6)...Not bad hey ?? and i know that Samsung will make update to make the S23 ultra better and better 😮
You can see that the Samsung picture have has motion blur because the picture was not took at the recommand speed in photograpy's rules....

On the third one , you get this

The R7 and Sigma 920mm show a better image quality than S23ultra at 100X but it's probably because the speed of the S23Ultra don't respect photography's rules.

But the last one is pretty the same on a pylon against the light

Here they are about equal...but S23ultra is a little bit better.

I will try to take the same pictures on my other Canon device to see if i can get better or not..

@CG2 , @Kuriousphotos abd @Iflysolo, i made this post for you...At 30X, i can't say that they are a big difference and when it stop to be cold, i will try it on my new passion Wildlife protography !

So...as photographer, i decided to pu the S23 Ultra on a tripod to see, if it can do better and here are the result :

It's still is not as clear that it is supposed but it's better... I put a 30 pounds on the tripod to be sure it was stabilized and i put 10 seconds before it took the picture....
Here isthe information of the picture

It says that the picture was took with the wide lens (OIS 12 MP, f/4.9, 230mm ) but the real focal lens at 100X is about 920mm. so the speed should be at 1/920 seconde to be sure it does not move... The choice of this speed is the base in photography so i hope that somebody will tell it to the Samsung's developpers. Cassidy_0-1677004403421.jpegCassidy_1-1677004570721.jpeg

HEY Kiwi, as i say, if Samsung was using the right speed and the same ISO of my R7, it should make better pictures.
The 150mm of our 90D correspond to the 30X zoom lens and is very comparable .
I'd like to get a bigger megabytes file on the Samsung to have a better quality image when trying to crop the picture.

Wild crop, but yeah the focal length is an issue. I don't think you will get the same result on the S23 with wildlife. Canon will do better at the zoom. The blur is an issue with th3 Samsung. I have been playing with the pro settings but either is too much light or too little light or the iso doesn't line up well. Indoors is literally impossible. So low light adjustments aren't very efficient in my experience on the S23 ultra when trying to capture motion.

We will wait for your results!

Yep...in low light, my S22 is a lot better in night mode or in Pro mode...
I hope that the update in 3 days will fix it...
And for the wildlife, I know that if I want good result, I'm better to NOT go up of the 30X zoom...
I will try the 100X with a tripod when the temperature stop freezing us and with good conditions of light.
Here is what I was seeing in the 1X lens and on the 30X lens ...this show you how far was the pylon.

Also, I know that for now, my Canon with a big big lens is better than a small small lens but...smartphone are getting better and better...maybe in few year 😇 🙃 they will be replacing a DSLR . (not sure for mirorless) but like I say, I'm happy with the S23ultra and my S-Pen 😇20230221_104830_1000000068_1676994511.jpg1677017999131_1677017999120_0.jpg

Your Samsung Smartphone can actually replace any DSLR  except if you make Wildlife photography. In all other situations, you don't have to bring a 30 ponds bag for your equipment with a lot of lens.

The following picture was took in Photo Mode and it's a small file of 2.2 megabytes. Imagine the details of the same picture if it was took with the 50MP lens...ans on the S23Ultra with 200MP...it should be incredible  and i will try to return at that place to take the same picture.

I really enjoy the quality of the Samsung's devices of the last generation.

BRAVO Samsung !

@Iflysolo,

I think that i understand what Samsung did and it give us the impression that the S23 Ultra does not  SEEMS as good as the others devices because  what we see on the screen of the camera's application the screen is not  bright enough when we compare with  others devices.

In fact, on the S23 Ultra we see the light like it is in reality and on all others devices like S22* or less, they show us a image with more light and this was what i like. I hope that Samsung will give us again the image that was show on the device in night Mode or else.

To see it like before, we have to move the cursor to get more light in the picture like the following printscreen 😎

Cassidy_0-1677023881957.jpeg

As  you can see, to get the samething in comparaison of my S22, i have to slide the cursor at the right and this is unpleasant...

So, please Samsung give us  a brighter image in the camera to see what we are shooting. I understand that you want to show us the real light but it won't help new photgrapher's beginners who don't know the Photography's rules....Think about it .

and this is a crop in the image :

Cassidy_3-1677024319751.jpeg

This image was took at 1/1000 f:6.3  on a 920mm lens with a BIG ISO 5000  to get the speed conform to the lens 1/lens focal = 1/920 but we only can have  1/1000...This speed  is what we should put if we don't want motion blur.

@Iflysolo, those pictures are for you

This is what i'd like to get with my zoom at 100X

Yes, that would be the ideal zoom. 👌
I am hoping there are enough people out there to notice this, and Samsung will listen. Most people click a Pic and that's it, but for me, it's beyond that..so let's see. Thanks for sharing Cassidy my friend! Waiting to see more from you!
