We are stuck in a software engineering mess. Typical example of bad management in a software requirement and analysis course because timely update is not their main concern. The main issue/root cause in android smartphones with updates is not even android itself, it's the current state of tempering with the core android and the carriers. #1 Carriers SHOULD not have anything to say on the OS update because they simply don't. #2 Software maintenance and testing should fall in line with timely updates. 3rd September 2019 for android 10 is the worst update, it's laughable, it's a Mëme. I would be so curious to hear their engineers on this. I'm sure it's not even them, it's again, a project manager somewhere. Eh boy, i hate bad project managers.

Community manager are having headaches with updates, well yeah! The root causes is cancer deep inside the way things are handle and it will be like this until then. What about I buy another phone some will say? Eh boy, what about I'm right I say. I could write a thousand scenario where the user want timely updates for software architecture purposes.

Wake up Samsung!

Samsung is just piling up the reasons to not purchase another phone of theirs

In the current state of android, our options are limited. We are going to be stuck on the pixel or 1+ but i hear you. It's ridiculous

Holy h3ll are you whining in every single comment section. It must be hard to live day to day with such insignificant things impacting you so greatly. Go out, volunteer, join a club, do anything but sit around looking at a piece of glass and metal wanting to have the slightest little change done to it for even a modicum of satisfaction. Life priorities.

Your #1 point doesn't make much sense. While in an ideal world that would be amazing however, in reality who do you think people will blame and contact when something happens after an OS update... That's right, they'll blast their carrier. The carriers want to cover their a$$ as much as they can so want to test the new update radio to ensure optimal connectivity and to make sure nothing else goes wrong before release.

I think my #1 (I will stick to this #1) point makes sense and i just need to say one brand: Apple. Hate it or not, Apple control updates but Android follow an old phone model that doesn't need to exist anymore. It need to change. I know there's a lot of Android phones vs Apple but still, Android is layered as such that connectivity is not a problem anymore. Google is even trying hard to make layer easier for manufacturer and updates. Update should stick to Google or a manufacturer (point #2) in a timely manner.

Samsung send the update specific variant to carriers to test it, carriers control the update, they need their bloatware, and they decide when they release it or not. This is a problem because carriers are bad at it. I get what you're saying, but let carriers worry about their own things.

That's why Google is planning to extract portions of the OS and have it updated through the Play Store at some point I believe.

From my perspective - it SEEMS that Samsung has made some improvements in Security Patch OTAs and def with the S10 series in both the speed & frequency of Betas & ultimately the release of the Official One UI V2.0 - But like I said - From my perspective.

100% agree Samsung has made improvements on updates, could they be better yes, but compared to even a yr ago they are faster
