Honestly, I've been wondering about this too. I've been hoping against hope that the North American release of Pie on the Note8/S8 would have the same base as the Note9/S9. That would completely make up for the delays they've experienced in putting this out. Hoping that maybe the fact that it doesn't work on the International Note8 is because of the Exynos chip, but ours would magically work because of a unique combination of Qualcom and Karma (gentle sigh).
The update isn't available yet on my carrier, so I can still keep the hope alive until someone confirms it's not just an issue with the US Beta, or the international version.
Until then, I'll continue my irrational hope that I can have my Pie and Swift it, too!
@cnewell74 from what I've heard the One UI beta wasn't affected by blocked overlays & Exynos devices can always be Rooted in which case they CAN use Substratum with Root..
I'm not sure if all addons or overlays will work with pie through substratom but im running an addon with it and it works perfect, no issues so far (tho im on note 9 and the only real changes I've made was making the galaxy store naturally black themed)
