cannot send group emails with gmail app.

I am trying to send a group email on the Gmail app but instead of pulling up as one altogether I need to manually add each contact one by one. If I use the Samsung email app I just type in the first letter of the group name and it appears... how do I fix this? 

My note 5 didn't have this problem but my new note 9 does.

Is the Gmail app version on your Note 9 is same as the one on your Note 5?

try separating each address with a semi colon ( ; )

Yup. and that is one reason why I use the stock samsumg email app. It is not possible to address to group in the android gmail app.
