Hello all,

I recently noticed that my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a weird charging behavior. When I use my cable to charge my phone. It never goes to Fast Charge anymore. Just shows cable charging.

I did enable Fast Charge under battery settings. And I already confirmed that Super Fast Charge and Wireless Fast Charge are working.

🤔 What else I have done? I backup my data and did a factory reset. Same thing, cable charging only 😞.

My friends told me could be your charging brick faulty or cable problem. Well...ordered a new 25W charging brick with new USB C to C cable. 😫 What!? Same result? Cable charging...

Fine continue testing with different wall outlets, different power bars...same cable charging.

Must be my phone problem then 😨. But hope appear, I get Fast Charging by using old 15W USB A to C charger. 😲

Now I am lost 😵💫. I install AcuBattery app to see some charging data.

Charging current only approximate 1,100mA?

Old charger charge at 2,300+ mA. How come the new 25W charger not charging at higer mA?

At the beginning, I thought is software bugs, after factory reset still the same. So I changed my direction to hardware. But seems like not my phone, the USB A to C does the Fast Charging, then I eliminate this cause. Now, is there a problem on power brick 🤔? No, I don't think so...brand new power brick with new USB C to C cable, original from Samsung.

So, I am still not able to figure out what's wrong. I am just sharing what I've found so far. If anyone see this problem and know the solution, please let me know. I could use Super Fast Charge, but I try to avoid this method. This generate the heat and don't want to kill the battery yet. Cable charging still acceptable to me. Within an hour will charge back to 100%. I am just curious why it is not doing Fast Charging on 25W USB C to C, but works on 15W USB A to C?

It could possibly be a dirty charging port. I've had issues and after cleaning it, started working normally again

Hi Tallman, It appears that you had tried all options to determine the issue, it looks like an issue with the charging port, we suggest you get it examined by the service technician.

Odd issue indeed. I have the 25w charger and it shows super fast charging on both Note 10+ and Tab S8+. I'm using the cable that was provided with the Tab S8+. I didn't get the cable/charger combo. Samsung cables are not the best and wouldn't surprise me if it was faulty to begin with. The only way to actually rule out a problem with the port is to test the charger and cable with another device that supports super fast charging. If those other devices show it is super fast charging with the same cable/charger, then it may indeed be something wrong with the charging port.

Indeed. My wife is using Note10+ and plugged in to 25W charger C to C, it shows Super Fast Charging. But Note10+ only support Fast Charge.

Could be possible that the port has gone bad on Note 20 Ultra. Since Note 10+ has no issues recognizing the 25w charger and cable. Rules out the possibility of a defective cable and charger. :(

But why USB-A to C works on Fast Charging? That I do not understand. But I agree that could be the port problem. Also, the funny thing is...Cable charging to 100% required time is same as Fast Charge time on 15W USB A-C. I was thinking maybe software bugs because both charging require time are the same.

Maybe something wrong with the PPS protocol? That's probably the only other thing to consider.

Interesting to note... It looks like they tweaked the PPS a little for the Note 10+? I just noticed that when I plugged in the 65w that supports PPS I get super fast charging 2.0 on the Note 10+. However it does not show this on the Tab S8+ (just shows super fast charging).Screenshot_20220312-112721_Nova7_9917_1647102441.jpgScreenshot_20220312-112627_Nova7_9916_1647102387.jpg
