I was wondering if Samsung has a fix for this yet?
I would like to be able to go back to max resolution and high performance  mode.
It would be really nice to be able to use my phone to is highest potential.
They really should have a hot fix for this already.
I'm not going to threaten to stop using Samsung but as a passing customer it would be nice for them to fix this issue.

Hi Xevaster, Sorry for your inconvenience.

Samsung is aware this symptom that a limited number of Galaxy S9/S9+/Note9 that updates the software to the latest version might experience.

Regarding this, Samsung is scheduled to release a new software to resolve this symptom. Therefore, please check for updates to your device SW regularly via the FOTA or Smart Switch PC.

Before the release, users experiencing this symptom need to unlock the device depending on following guides and change the device resolution to FHD+.

1. First reboots the device,

    • a. press and hold the Power key and the Volume Down key simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.
    • b. Then, device restarts and normal lock screen appear properly. Now, enter your PIN/Pattern/Password to unlock the device. After then, device starts and enters to Home screen successfully but the screen of changed resolution appears again.

2. Go to Settings

  • To access the Settings more easily in changed resolution screen, we recommend to use the Settings icon on notification panel.
  • For this, drag the status bar downwards and tap the original location for Settings icon. (*You have to do it before the screen turns off.)
  • During this process, you may experience difficulties and need to try many times because you need to guess the icon's original normal location on changed resolution screen.

Change the screen resolution to FHD+

  • Once you enter to Settings, you can also guess the original normal location of menus in the same way as preceding step and reach to the Screen resolution. Then change to FHD+.

3. Alternatively, if Bixby feature is turned on and it's available to use it, press the Bixby key and say Change the resolution to FHD+

If you have any difficulties during this process to unlock the device, please contact an Authorized Samsung Service Center with device for assitance.

NOTE:

If the screen is locked with only Password/PIN(not a pattern), you can unlock it by entering the password with your PC keyboard. (It needs an OTG adaptor to connect the smartphone with PC keyboard.)

If you failed changing the resolution to FHD+, check the below guides:

  • Factory reset can resolve this problem, but you MUST get the customer approval first because the user data is removed. And if google account is enabled on the device, FRP unlock process is required.

To do a factory reset, follow instructions below:

a. Press and hold the Power key and the Volume Down key simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.

b. As soon as reboot the device(during the new booting), press and hold the power key and Volume Up key and Bixby key simultaneously.

c. If the recovery mode is appeared, select wipe data/factory reset using side keys. (cursor moving : volume keys, select : power key)

Thanks for the advice. I had already been able to get it down to the needed resolution. I'm just wishing Samsung was a little faster with a fix.

If I were you, I would first connect it through Smart Things and make sure Bluetooth and all that is on. Otherwise, clear your device's cache partition just in case.
