Hi all,

As this update is over a gig, is it mostly cosmetic changes under the hood? I'll be backing up my device as always and will do a cache wipe when done (whenever that may be). I assume nothing major that I should be concerned with (ie. factory reset after update) as it's a "minor" update and not a "major" update?

Thanks.

It's a major update, that's why it's called "One UI 2.1" Lol.

So far I just wipe cache partition and my phone running great. Battery seems to be pretty good too. If there is nothing major, factory reset is NO need. 🙂

Good to know. This is my means to get and communicate critical info to/from colleagues. As well as College updated regulations/exemptions. So really can't afford to mess with the phone especially if the update requires a factory reset. Hence my inquiry.

I would say this is kind of major updates. It adds a lot of new features. Like Pro Video, Panorama can take vertical shot. Keyboard improved a lot. Added SMB and FTP support in My Files. Adding 2 folders in 1 folders in Gallery and Group all AR stuff in 1 folder. Improved AR emoji, add more choices...etc. (I may missed some more features).

I have to warn you, my battery life is really bad now. Same thing happened when I got Android 10, the phone fixed itself after a week though, so I suspect the same thing will happen here.

Wierd, my battery improved. 🤔
Android 10 update drain my battery, same after factory reset. But this time, battery last longer. Light use today. 100% at 9am, 7pm I still have 78%.
