My wife and I have been having this issue reoccur where the Over the Horizon ringtone will play at random. I've tried various things with our phones, but nothing has worked thus far. In a way, I regret updating to One UI 4 cause this ringtone issue is crippling. The only way I've been able to stop it is by powering off the phones, starting them in the boot menu, clearing the cache, then restarting the phones.

I also noticed a significant reduction in performance of my wife's S20 FE. Glitching, screen lag, and apps freezing have been a constant problem for her.

If I find a solution, I'll post a comment here. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I love Samsung's products, I've used them for years, but this UI launch was awful. (That's just my opinion. I'm sure there are many who have had good experiences. 🙂)

My wife's phone is the S20 FE.
My phone is the Note 20 Ultra

Maybe I misunderstand. But I do have exact problem right after factory reset for incoming call ringtone.

There's no indication it is a notification. My notification area is blank when the ringtone goes off. That's why it's hard to identify what's wrong. If you had my phone when this happens, the only indication something isn't right is the fact it's blaring at you. 😆 🔊🤷🏻

I see, I recommend you try install Nice Catch app to see if it catch what's problem.

https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.app.goodcatch

Enable the app, then enable ringer mode history. See if the app catch what causing the ring.

You can enable other modes too if needed.

Once the Over the Horizon ring, stop it. Then check the Nice Catch app.Screenshot_20220204-091637_Nice Catch_14638_1643991397.jpg

I already have it. 👌🏻😏 I'll be paying close attention to it. 🙂 👍🏻

I think that I previously mentioned that Good Lock's NotiStar could help identify the source, but I actually meant to say Good Lock's Nice Catch, although together both are useful.

If you're still getting random notifications, it might be worth it to check Nice Catch.

Hopefully the issue is resolved though 🤞

Yeah, but no, that's just if you reduced the Volume to Silent Mode / Vibrate was the only Notification.

I can create the same Ringer mode Notification on my device by turning the Ringer volume off.

Since you Toggled Off Android System Notifications, have you heard the "over the horizon" ringtone for no apparent reason?

Yes. For no reason.
