Where are my photos going?

Ok can someone help me please? 2 parts: TIA

I am new to Samsung.. if that helps..

1. so I download a pic from Google..disappears.. like in a black hole. not in the downloads folder, not in gallery. no where. it just evaporates.

2. I delete some photos from the gallery. but I back then up in Google photos. works, no issues! however, if I need one of those photos again I have to go to Google and then download to device which then goes into the my files folder as a zipped folder. is that normal? when I unzip the folder sometimes they show up back in the gallery and sometimes they evaporate again?!

WTH... Someone please help.. I never saw that in my previous Android.

Doesn't make sense at all. Your camera and other photos are showing, that means it's not a corrupt memory issue and no app is doing it. What else could it be..
The only solution I can think of is to use a DIFFERENT browser, there you can choose where to save downloaded photos properly and you'll see them.

Mozilla Firefox, Uc Browser, Opera.. Try any one & see the result.

ok I just tried with the native Samsung internet app and it worked. Google and chrome don't work. so I guess I will just use that although am baffled why... 🤔

Haa don't use Chrome. It's problematic on phone and not that good. Use the native Samsung Internet browser, you'll love it for sure. Ton more features than Chrome, faster, biometric security baked in and no privacy issues.
