I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra that I bought from Dubai. Now that I have moved to Canada, the 5G network doesn't work on my phone! And this is very strange to me! I visited one of the Samsung branches, and they explained that it is due to the international version of the phone. When I have a reputable and flagship phone, why shouldn't I be able to use 5G networks?!

In order to use 5G networks in Canada you have to use one of the 5G service providers here in Canada. Do your research to see what's best for you.

If the device is locked to whatever company you bought it for you might have some problems but if it's paid off and you're able to use it with other service providers for example Bell or Rogers your good.

My phone is unlocked, and currently, I have an active 5G Bell plan on my SIM card. I even performed a factory reset on the phone and tested it with a Rogers SIM card with a 5G plan. Today, I visited one of the Samsung representatives, and they said my phone must be unlocked from Canada's locks! And I don't agree with this! If someone from Dubai brings their Samsung phone to Canada, they can't use the 5G network!!! With an unlocked phone!

Hi Nimas22, we apologize to hear about this unpleasant experience. A simple explanation for your issue would be your Galaxy S22 Ultra's 5G hardware is currently compatible only with UAE's 5G bands (or in other countries that use the same or compatible 5G bands). Canada's 5G bands, depending on the cellular carrier, may be different from that of UAE, therefore limiting your device's 5G reception here in Canada. Vice versa, Canadian Galaxy devices may not be compatible with 5G bands in the UAE. This greatly depends on various conditions such as each cellular carrier's current 5G infrastructure, and may change in the future.

If you would like to inquire more about 5G compatibility, we also recommend asking your cellular carrier's customer representative.

Same issue. I have the same phone from Dubai. Tried it freedom and Telus here and my phone doesn't pick up 5g on either. Shame on Samsung for locking this feature

It has got nothing to do with the cell phone provider. But Samsung is to blame 200%.

They block the bands for all their cell phones now especially in North America. Up until last month there was a way around to get into service menu and unlock all bands but since Nov. they have blocked that method too.

And then Samsung talks about competing with Apple...Apple never locks their bands on any of their devices. But Nimas22 if you have not updated your phone in the last couple of months then you still have a way to unlock your 5G bands in Canada. Just need to search the internet on how to unlock bands. No Samsung rep will help you out. I have tried 2 different Samsung Stores in Toronto, the techs have no clue and won't even touch your device because it was purchased from outside Canada which is ridiculous.

Same problem here only with a Z fold 5...cannot get 5G, visited koodo/Telus got the same story...this is my first Samsung, could be the last. I travel all over the world and need a global phone not a Canadian toy.

Same story. Bought z5 from Dubai and brought it here. And this is my first Samsung since 10 yrs. Apple usually push the network setting ASA you insert a new sim. Samsung. Shane on you.
