Hello,
since the last update of the OS, I have been experiencing ghost pauses while watching videos on YouTube app. I have been very carefully watching this issue, since I thought I mihht be accidentally touching the screen, but it turns out I wasn't.
So the video suddenly pauses during the playback. also sometimes I have seen an ad suddenly opening up the playstore during the playback, but I haven't touched it clicked on the ad. (edit1: attached the ads screenshot)
I haven't installed any malicious apps or rooted my phone just to be clear.
update1: the ad has stopped showing up but the random pauses still remain.

You could try to go to Settings - Apps - YouTube and Clear the cache and storage for YouTube - If that doesn't work - Try Uninstalling YouTube and Reinstall - See if that fixes it for you 🐧

tried that, didn't work. so moved to your second suggestion, uninstalling YouTube, guess what....?? it's a system app, can't uninstall!
The problem still persists and if anyone is facing the same problem, please let me know

Sometimes adware is unknowingly installed. I experienced very odd behaviour on my phone too in the past. I tried several antivirus programs but nothing fixed it. Finally, I stumbled upon Zemana and that identified some adware on my phone and fixed my issue. I would try that as well. You never know!
