Ok, when I first picked up my s8 the camera was amazing. Took pictures of people jumping in the air and they were perfectly crisp. Since than and a couple of updates later it is dreadful. I have tried to clear the cache, a soft reset, and now am getting frustrated since nothing is working. Also I am not really willing to do a total factory reset as I don't want to have to reconfigure everything, it's frustrating and again I doubt it would even fix the problem anyway.

jackday - a camera quality is not measure only by the amount of megapixels. the s7 and s8 sensor and software optimization are way better than the s6, I know this because I came from an s6 edge to the s8.

I use a case for the back too and none for the screen.. I share the idea that we were supposed to use the phone as it was designed to be used... however, it appears to be a major issue as lots of users are competing about scratches and problems with the fingerprint.. I don't mean going for Apple,I won't take that road again..,, there are other android phone makers out there that's worth trying. the g6 camera beats the hell of the s8,, my friend had it and we compare both for a full day..

Do you have auto tracking on? If you tap on the moving target, it should start to follow it in better detail... You might already know that, but in case you don't lol

sometimes it depends upon the low light background. the more brighter your background is, the more crisp your picture will be, lower light will result in much more softer and more like lower quality-ish pictures.

I haven't noticed a change in camera quality. Hope this gets fixed for you though.
As for the camera quality of S6 being 16mp and now it being 12mp. Pixels aren't everything and doesn't make a better camera...if so the Sony phones with 21 mp would be the best.
