Galaxy SI put this question to Samsung agent while chatting "Can we get call recording turned on in Canada?" Agent said "As of now there is no call recording option available, you need to download external application from Playstore." Reminded him "Why not? It is available in India version and other country. Why not in Canada? Is there a Canadian law? or Samsung is playing police?" He said "Please allow me 2 minutes while I check this with my supervisor." After few minutes, he replied "Actually call recording is disabled on all the Canadian models, It's not about the law and all. However, you can download an application from Playstore." Again I asked the agent "please stay on the question. Why it is disabled in Canada and not in india?" Agent replied "I just got a confirmation from my supervisor that as per Canadian policies the call recording is disabled on all the Canadian models." I asked again "Can you provide me in writing the evidence that you have Canadian order to disable this function?" Agent replied "We have dedicated team who works on it, please wait a moment while I transfer." A new Agent "Unfortunately the call recording features is not available with the Canadian manufactured device." I asked "what is the real reason that this function is disable in Canadian version?" Agent said "As per Canadian law call recording is not offered as default in Canadian models." I asked for "Can you give me the written evidence?" Agent "Not to worry I can escalate the case to our concern department to get you the written evidence on the call recording option via email. You will receive the email with in 24-48 working hours." After 48 hours I get this "We are writing this email in regards to your recent contact with Samsung Canada support where you requested official response about not having Call Recording feature on Canadian models.
Our team has reviewed your concern and requested to contact our Chief Privacy Officer’s email for the official response about the call recording features on Canadian phones.
Chief Privacy Officer’s email: privacy.officer@samsung.com"
When I wrote to privacy officer my concern I got this from him "
Thank you for raising your concerns with us. We are sorry to hear that you are upset that this feature is not currently available in Canada. Although Samsung Canada is not obligated to make this service available in Canada, we do appreciate hearing from customers on what service and features are of interest and value to them.
SECA Privacy Office"
So they avoided to answer the question, what policy Canadian Govt has given them. There is no Canadian Law prevent to record call on smartphone. Samsung is policing and controlling Canadian citizen like as they are in China or Russia? I will appeal to all my Canadian fellow to write this to Canadian PM and Minister for this Big tech ill-legal control on Canadian. Also raise your voice on facebook, youtube and twitter.
