Hey there, so for a while i have noticed the default samsung photo editor app is taking up 10GB of storage. After a lot of troubleshooting with samsung support, i was told that my last resort would be disabling the app altogether. Can someone guide me with some info such as whats the name of the package for the photo editor app?

Yeah it seems pretty unprofessional for the support team to guide me into doing something like this. Either way, my main objective with this post was to get the name of the package and the commands necessary for the disabling of the app, as i resigned myself with the fact that that's the last resort.

See the screen shot. This *should* be the apk for the Photo Editor app.

Like I said, you can use adb or a Samsung package disabler to disable the photo editor app.

Here's a link to xda's how to use adb to disable system apps.

From the Play Store you can try "app freezer", or "ccswe", there's both a Root version & a non Root version, you obviously want the non Root version. "app freezer" is free by the way. You can probably ignore the reviews for these two apps, most people who left negative comments just didn't follow the instructions properly or can't read.

Hi, If the issue still persists after factory reset, then register an Error Report from the Samsung Members app by attaching the system logs.

Open the Samsung Members app>> Menu >> Support >> Send feedback >> Error Report >> Send system log file.

With these logs, our team could analyze the performance and errors on the device and if there is anything related to the Samsung update that you have installed recently, we would push a fix through an update.

Ok so here's an update. I have successfully disabled the Photo Editor app, but i guess it still keeps its data as the storage space is not affected in any way by my action of getting rid of the app. Technically it is gone, as i am asked to download the app when i try to use the "edit" feature on a picture in the gallery, but im pretty sure it is still installed in the system itself. When reactivating the app, either by downloading it off the galaxy store or by an adb command, it still shows up as using 10GB.

Im beginning to consider that this is a visual glitch or something, even if it is showing up at the top when sorting by size in the apps list. Either way, i might at some point factory reset the phone altogether, or i can just wait for the android 12 update to see if it gets solved all of a sudden.

In any case, thank you everyone for the support, information and the pictures provided, i really appreciate it.

He has NOT performed a factory reset yet. He has only disabled the Photo Editor app.

Seems like he does not want to do factory reset. He was hoping Android12 fix the problem all of a sunnden.

Perhaps wishful thinking? Depends on the reason that he was seeing 10 Gig in the app. If it's an error from the app itself, I'm doubtful that an Android version update will change anything.

Factory reset may not fix it either, but I think there's a better chance of fixing it with an FR.
