Hello,

I switched from a S22 to an S24 and I use the downloaded version of "Google messages"

I did the smart switch already, however a lot of my messages from my old phone to my new one isn't showing up. I can't see pretty much all the messages from 1 person inpeticular (girlfriend) and they are important to have on my new phone.

Is there any way of transferring those messages to my new phone?

Thank you for your help!

Hi ChrisJDobson,

If some messages didn’t transfer during Smart Switch, especially from one person, here are a few steps you can try to recover them:

Check if Messages Sync is Enabled:

On your Galaxy S22, make sure Google Messages is set to sync with your Google account > Open Google Messages on the S22 > Go to Settings > Chat features and ensure Enable chat features is on > Check if Google Drive backup is enabled under Google Settings.

Back Up Messages Using Google Drive:

On your old phone  > Go to Settings > Google > Backup > Ensure that Messages is included in the backup > Manually trigger a backup by tapping Back up now.

Transfer via Google Account:

On your new phone (S24), make sure your Google account is synced > Go to Settings > Accounts > Google and check if Messages is enabled for syncing > Restore the backup by resetting the Messages app on your new phone, and it may pull in the missing texts from the backup.
