Currently I've been using Samsung Messages for years as my default messaging app. I've been reading that Google Messages is the norm now for Android devices. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of switching to Google Messages? Both pros AND cons please.

Google messages pros has rcs support, reactions for both iPhones and Androids and you can archive chats
Cons: not customizable, example change individual chat backgrounds

Samsung messages pros customizable. That's about it. Doesn't have all the rest of the things Google messages have

Okay, thank you for the feedback. Also had another question. Does Google Messages need to use Google Contacts or can it pull the contacts off of Samsung Contacts?

Custom backgrounds coming to Google Messages as part of their Billion RCS user update:

RCS is similar to iMessage, so if you've never tried it, might be time to switch. Plus, iPhone will support it later this year... maybe Apple users will stop complaining about green bubbles so much lol

That article says nothing about custom backgrounds. It not really custom to change a bubble color. Where Samsung allows for you to use a photo background. This is where goggle lacks. Imo.

It pulls the contacts off of the samsung app and uses it within the messages app. You can use both at the same time if you want

Okay, thank you! 😊 I'll need to brainstorm a bit before switching over to Google Messages.

On the Google Play Store, there's quite a bit of negative reviews about the app.

It's probably from people nitpicking. Ive been using the app for a couple years now and it's been amazing to use

I'll try switching over to the Google Messages as default and give the app a test run. If I don't like it, It'd be just a simple matter to revert back to Samsung Messages.
