My Google Play store settings have auto updates set to off, yet when i turn on a wifi connection Google Play store starts updating apps. When I go to the Google Play Store and look at the updates section nothing is actually updating It's all in my notification panel so I have to sit there and hit cancel on the notification that pops up saying an app is updating and that one cancels another one starts immediately and it just keeps going. Mind you I do have over 800 apps on my phone which I'm in the process of eliminating ones I don't use however how does Google Play Store keep auto updating apps when they option is set to off?

I'm joking here, but.. Maybe with 800 apps, the Play Store made an executive decision, and said "Okay, this person has a LOT of apps, better force some updates before either their system crashes or their device crashes OUR system" 🤪🙂

Joking aside, I know that SOME apps will Auto Update, regardless of what settings you have on the Play Store.

Also,

Apparently, what's happening here is that Google Play Support Libraries get auto-updated regardless of your update settings. If an app you installed relies on those libraries, an "update" to the app is triggered, even if no code in the app has changed, only some libraries it uses.

Since there isn't a way to stop Google Play auto-updating, there isn't a way to stop these app updates either.

I hope that this clears it up for you 🙂

Is Auto Update set to Off, or Auto Update on WiFi Only?

First or Second screen shot?

🙂

Thanks, RedDogRabbit. So isn't just me when it's the Play Store update settings? Frustrating..
