I just got a 2019 Nissan Kicks and I can't seem to get my phone to allow text messages on it. When I go to the option for it in the car I get the note on the attached picture. I can't seem to find that in my Bluetooth settings, and I feel like this is something basic I should be able to figure out.

Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

did you try going to bluetooth and then click your car (Nissan) and it should hopefully look like this 3d60e561-717d-4b12-9242-2bb95e42efff.jpg

it has everything except the Message access. When I would connect it to my Mazda, I'd get a prompt asking for permission to my messages, but I don't get that with the Nissan.

Then if your not getting the information that is lime the screen shot while your in the setting for your vehicle.. then I would unpair the vehicle in your setting and then repair.... that should fix your issues.

I've tried that a few times and it's just not working. I'm starting to think my S8 isn't compatible with this feature, but that just seems odd.

yes that woukd be odd...
I don't own a Nissan but when I go back to the U.K. I normally get given a Nissan when renting a car and I have neve had this issue..
so what do you see in your settings when your in Bluetooth and you open up your vehicle??
Can you include a screen shot?

Then I would say your problem is with the vehicle itself as it works with the Mazda but not the kicks...I
just an suggestion is pop by the dealership and see if they can help.
