It's really just annoying, so let's see if anyone here can help me out.

So, I've had my phone for about 2 years now, no problem so far. A few weeks ago, the zoom function of my rear cameras started to bugger really hard with anything beyond a 10x zoom. It was getting blocked, and I had to close the app to get it back up. It wasn't great, but it didn't really bother me, so I gave up.

But now I've upgraded to One UI 8, and it's completely dead. The camera app gives me a "Warning: Camera Failure.," and third-party apps don't work at all. The front-facing camera doesn't work anymore either. The only apps that use the camera and work are AR cameras, for some reason I don't know. I checked so many subreddits, tried everything that people suggest (clear the cache, reboot the phone, etc.), except for the full reset of the phone. I even put it into "Failureless Mode," and the camera didn't even want to open.

Does anyone have any ideas that don't involve resetting the phone? I know I can save everything, but I'm very suspicious, just for fear of losing everything, even when I back up my phone. My next step is to look for a Verizon/Samsung store for help because it's just annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi Alexdeso,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your device’s camera following the upgrade to One UI 8. We understand how frustrating it must be to encounter repeated “Camera Failure” errors, especially after trying multiple troubleshooting steps without success.

To assist further, please try the following recommendations:

  • Check for Software Updates: Navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to ensure the latest patches are applied.

  • Update All Apps: Confirm that the Camera app and related system apps are updated via the Galaxy Store and Google Play Store.

  • Safe Mode Test: Boot the device into Safe Mode (press and hold Power button > tap and hold Power off > select Safe Mode) to determine if third‑party apps are interfering with camera functionality.

  • Clear Cache/Data for Camera App: Go to Settings > Apps > Camera > Storage and clear cache. If the issue persists, try clearing data (note: this may reset app preferences).

  • Check Storage and Permissions: Ensure sufficient storage space is available and that camera permissions are enabled for relevant apps.

If the issue continues after these steps, we kindly recommend submitting an error report through the Samsung Members app > Support > Send feedback > Error reports. This will provide our engineering team with detailed logs to investigate the matter thoroughly.

I usually begin with the last "change" I made to the device and go backwards from there.

Basically what Umi posted. 🙏
