Hi, my phone half-downloaded the OneUI 3 update. I paused the download; I can see the update is light on new features but heavy on tiny adjustments to my workflow when I'd just gotten used to this phone, so I don't want it. However, I now have an undismissable update notification. I can't hide it or delete the half update file.

Is there any way to fix this without root? I tried deleting SW Update cache and system cache.

I wouldn't ever not want the update, but it's your phone.

You can try Clearing Cache AND Data from software updates. Clearing cache alone won't do anything.

Thanks, sorry I forgot to mention that troubleshooting step. I deleted data as well. But the notification always comes back when I restart.

The ONLY other possible way would be to perform a factory reset, You will however still have a notification that an update is available, but I would never refuse any updates to the android version, not to mention Google does monthly security patch updates for a reason!

That's actually the wrong app! You need to wipe the data of com.wssycmldm... which is not possible without advanced app managers. But if you can do it, it absolutely works

Hi jcm, Samsung recommends keeping the device software up to date to get a better experience with your device.

Not to mention the Security Patch updates!

Most modern software that cares about security distinguishes between feature updates and security patches. It's ridiculous to demand users install your buggy new feature update immediately on release and if they don't, you'll withhold security patches. Imagine if Windows did this.

Given all the complaints about Recent Apps, the earliest I'm likely to update is when Task Changer gets updated for 3.0. If Samsung is requiring me to unlearn/relearn my muscle memory just to receive security patches, that's bad design and a decision on their part
