Anyone know how I can completely eliminate my device from using chrome?

I'm not talking about the chrome app. I'm talking about the use of Chrome when opening web link from other app.

Not sure if it's just me, but the use of the chrome mini browser seems to be occurring more often.

It's inhibiting the use of the AI summary that I'm trying to use more often on the Samsung browser.

Long press on Samsung browser, click on the little "i" top right , go to defaults and set Samsung browser as defaut.

Not sure if that will work.. I have Chrome, Samsung Internet & Internet Beta, and none are set as the Default browser. Some sites want to open Chrome, and others want to open Samsung Internet.. Disabling Chrome may work?

True my chrome is also disabled but even before disabling it, i think all my links were opened with the Samsung browser iirc, i could be mistaken. But yes disabling Chrome would definitely do the trick.

Embarrassed as an advanced user to say that I missed this. I recently smart switched to S24 and the default didn't move over.

That said, there are still sites that open chrome. I will post them here as I find them.

I know this because for a while I switched to the Edge browser because it has a convenient 'read article' button. I found that many links where opened in a chrome style mini browser, after which, I would have to hit the 3 dots and select 'open in default browser '

This also periodically happens with some document downloads. Whereby I'm forced to use Google pdf viewers and cloud options

In fairness to you, I would have thought that you would need to use a Package Disabler or adb to disable it.. because most System Apps,  don't give you the option to Disable them.

Maybe it's the anti-competition challenges that Google has been facing over the years?

Yeah i was surprised also that it can be disabled but it's one of the first things I did on my S23U and my S24U and still forgot to mention it.

Have you tried going to Settings > Apps & Disabling Chrome?

Chrome is a System App, and I was a surprised to see that "Disable" was an option for it.

@reddograbbit - yes, this is what I'm talking about. I just tried disabling chrome so we'll see what happens.
