Is the S8 really 'Gorilla Glass 5'?

Screen is scratching too easy. Don't blame Samsung for doubting that their "Gorilla Glass 5" is easier to scratch than my old iPod, but there is no way this is quality glass. I take care of my phone more than most people I know. I am careful when I touch the screen. The only thing I've ever had in my pocket with it where plastic earbuds...and I have many scratches on my 1 month old s8. Anyone else?

So just asking, I am guessing you do not use a screen protector? I know most of the members here especially ones with the S8 all use a screen protector, so it would be tough to say...

Hello ECon, I use a ghost armor screen protector on my S8, and ive had it on my phone since the first day I got it.
I dont really care much about Gorilla Glass 5, or 4 or 3...doesnt mean anything to me to be honest. If I drop it, it will still crack regardless which Gorilla Glass it is.
I use a screen protector to avoid scratches and dings on my screen. Most of the time, my S8 is in my purse with my keys, and makeup so I dont take any chances to go without a screen protector. :)

As the lady says.. a screen protector is the way to go. I also put on a screen protector from day one. I got mine at best buy paid around $20 And it is garrenteed for life any issues they just replace it which over 18 months there have been none.

as much as I hate covering the beautiful design of the phone. I use screen protector and wallet case. honestly phones are huge investments and it's good to protect them. I got mine off Amazon both for like 30$. even though the phone screens strong. they're also expensive to repair now that they're edge, OEM led, and that touch components are also on the screen built in.
