I set my phone on the nightstand before taking a nap last Thursday, when I woke up my phone didn't. I tried everything to try and turn it on to no avail. I had to wait 2 days before the battery drained before plugging it in and seeing any signs of life. THIS IS WHY PHONE BATTERIES SHOULD BE REMOVABLE. It would have sucked to go on 2 full days without a phone, good thing I still had a 4 year old Poco F3.

Definitely not normal behavior. You said you tried everything.. did that include Booting into Recovery, Wiping Cache, Factory Reset?

I don't think you mentioned if you were able to power it off?

One of the reasons why the batteries are not removable, is for ip68 water resistance.

The phone did not want to turn on, so no, I wasn't able to boot into recovery nor wipe cache nor do a factory reset. I just decided to turn off and stay off for almost 2 days

I understand your point why the battery is not removable for ip68 rating. What I'm saying is all my device seem to have needed was a hard reset, but because the battery is not removable I had to wait almost 2 days for the battery to drain.

You need the phone to be OFF in order to Boot into Recovery..

Part of my first reply didn't make sense, because it didn't register to my brain that you could not turn it on, even though I understood the issue 😂

This is the third Samsung phone I have had since switching to Android. I just have bad luck with the brand, I also had a Samsung curved tv before that barely lasted 3 years.

Hi kulot_,

We are sorry to hear about the trouble you had with your phone! It must have been incredibly frustrating to be without your main device for two whole days. We definitely understand that removable batteries could certainly make things more convenient in situations like this.

Sometimes, a phone can freeze due to a software crash or other minor issue, and a regular reboot may not be enough. A force restart (hard reset) could help: Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds, until the phone vibrates and restarts.

Since your phone didn’t show any signs of life, it’s possible the charging port or cable was faulty, or there was a poor connection when you tried charging. Make sure the charging port is clean and free from debris, and try using a different cable or charger to see if that helps.

If your phone freezes again in the future, you might be able to access Recovery Mode to troubleshoot:

Power off the phone, then press and hold Volume Up + Power simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears. You’ll then enter the recovery menu where you can try options like Wipe Cache Partition (without losing data) or Factory Reset if the issue persists.

In case your phone faces issues again and you need to reset it, it's a good idea to regularly back up your important data.

Thank you.
