Just upgraded from a Google Pixel 6 to a Samsung S24+ and used SmartSwitch to move everything over. Results aren't bad but I need to clean up a lot. There are a TON of "new" (to me) apps tagged with Samsung name and I pretty much have no use for most of them. Are there any I should NOT uninstall?

If they appear in the app drawer, then most of them you can try to uninstall (good luck with some of them).

Otherwise you can Google ways to uninstall or disable the apps.

I'll fully agree on XDA long time members being know it all jerks and NOT at all helpful in any way. Guides assume you know everything (which makes no sense to have a guide at all if that was the case; still very vague).

What was the point to upgrade from a Pixel (no UI basic android) to a Samsung phone with UI and their apps??? Not too mention no immediate security patch delivery?!!

Doesn't make sense. I guess you were gifted it and Pixel was gimped?

Pixel 6 battery was getting fat and pushing the case open so needed a new device. Lots of choices, I picked S24+. We'll see if that was worth it. Still want to do without a lot of the @#&(@*&#@# that Samsung thinks is important.

Do you know if there is a list of all those Samsung Apps and a review of what their purpose is?

Not sure of valid reviews. On Samsungs App Store, many of the reviews for their apps seems to be done by haters or possibly paid shills/fans of other OEMs or childish useless remarks. Really ridiculous tbh.

Camera app you should keep as it has ProRAW + ProRES Support therein with iso adjustments so it's VERY useful.

Wallet for your Visa/Debit Crads but the latter seems limited to a few banks - lots of threads in this community to search for a listing or just a simple Google search of supported banks and cards.

Samsung pass- passwords but you probably don't use that FYI there are 2 ways to setup authentication for any other app like Chrome you use.

Hi GlenB,

Congratulations on your new Galaxy S24+. When you turn on your phone for the first time, some apps are preinstalled. Some of these apps are necessary for your phone to run correctly and cannot be uninstalled or disabled.

You would not uninstall some applications but it can disabled. You can uninstall those apps, which you can install.

You can try the below methods:

Go to apps-screen > Press and hold the embedded app which you want to disable > Tap on Disable > App disabled successfully.

Navigate to Settings and tap on it > Tap on Apps >  Tap on app which you want to disable > Tap on Disable > App disabled successfully.

Note: To enable the app again, go to Settings > Apps, then select the app.

Thank you.

I think for next time, try to use linux to backup pics and videos/other files because samsung smart switch has been known to miss some files (alteast for me). I had a completely terrible experience moving from a s7 to a s8 phone. I've completely abandoned it and now use linux or just normal copy paste instead.
