I dont usually post One UI related posts but I was trying to compare how the update has progressed in the US vs Canada since both have identical hardware as far as Samsung phones are concerned.

So far in the US Samsung has updated the following: Galaxy S23 series including the S23 FE, S22 series, the good old S21 series, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3.

Meanwhile in Canada, Samsung seems to be focusing on newer flagships, at least. Apart from the S24 U, the Tab 9U, S10 Ultra, Z Fold 5 and 6. (There may be others since I stopped tracking).

Interesting to know how Samsung provides varied supports in these two regions.

Edit: Samsung has now released the OneUI 7 update for the S23 U and S24 FE

It's not about the hardware. It's all about the number ofdevices they are selling in a region and the profit they are making.

So the delay in Canada is justified?

I don't think that it's justified at all.. Samsung Canada doesn't face the pressure of the US market, so it seems that they are either disorganized, disinterested, or just content to be disappointing to Canadians.. but, AGAIN... Canada is NOT the last to release updates..

If you know what you're doing, you can always manually Flash the CORRECT US Firmware on your Canadian device, and then switch back to the Canadian Firmware once it's released here.. is it worth it.. depends on how badly you want it.. But there's really NOT that much of a difference, and currently, the battery is worse on the April Security Patch, then when the S25 Ultra was shipped. Hopefully the May Update will rectify the battery issue.

You raised some good points. Canada is not the last and does not face the pressure of the US market.

As I mentioned earlier, the primary focus is financial considerations. Furthermore, the Android phone market here isn't particularly competitive. For consumers who don't require top-tier processing power, Pixel phones represent a viable alternative. They are more affordable, and Google provides consistent software updates.

Good point. But you dont think Samsung, who has far superior hardware, should at least make updates a priority to change that narrative? At least, we know Samsung cannot match Pixel update speed but at least they should make efforts. Currently, I dont see that

Samsung had a strong track record of providing timely software updates. However, their Galaxy S series phones are not priced lower than Apple's, so the recent delays are concerning. Their past performance suggests that this year's delays are unusual. If this continues, we may need to explore alternative brands.

Hi, I'm convinced that little Canadians are only about 45 million vs 345 million so we're not a big market... 😏, and I can confirm that since 3 of my devices They have moved to Android 15 One UI 7, the batteries are less efficient, nothing dramatic but the difference is visible... let's hope that Samsung will correct this as quickly as possible and before the arrival of Android 16....🤷. thank you
