Latest update completely broke Bluetooth connection to my car, very occasionally auto connects but always connects "calls" but never audio, I have to manually toggle it on and off every time to make it work, this was not an issue with the previous version. Quite disappointed with having to deal with this.

Update:
From everything I've read in your replies, cars with android auto dont seem to have this issue but those without (basic infotainment system Bluetooth connections for audio/calling) are, I have successfully replicated this exact same issue with an S24 and a Google Pixel 7 Pro. I started them both on android 15 and had no issues then upgraded them both to 16 and the Bluetooth issues started repeating. I have also noticed that other somewhat older Bluetooth devices are having this same "connection" issue, only tested with a handful of speakers but the problems are still the same.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Galaxy Z Fold 5 when attempting to connect to your Mazda vehicles via Bluetooth. We understand how frustrating it can be to repeatedly reset the audio option in order to establish a connection.

At present, similar reports have been noted across different devices, which suggests this may be related to broader Android compatibility rather than a single device issue. While a permanent fix may require collaboration between Google and Samsung, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps in the meantime:

  • Forget and re-pair the device: On your phone, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, select your car’s Bluetooth profile, and tap Forget. Then re-pair the device from scratch.

  • Clear Bluetooth cache and data: Navigate to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Bluetooth > Storage, and clear cache and data. Restart your device afterward.

  • Update software: Ensure your Galaxy Z Fold 5 is running the latest available software update, as patches for connectivity issues are often included.

  • Check car firmware: Some Mazda infotainment systems require firmware updates. Please check with your dealer or Mazda’s official support site.

  • Toggle audio codecs: In Developer Options, try switching Bluetooth audio codecs (e.g., SBC, AAC, LDAC) to see if stability improves.

  • Safe Mode test: Restart your phone in Safe Mode to rule out third-party apps interfering with Bluetooth.

  • Temporary workaround: As you mentioned, resetting the audio option under Bluetooth remains the most reliable workaround until an official fix is released.
