In the last 3 weeks when I make a phone call through my phone itself or through wattsapp I can't hear people on the other end of the call well and they can't hear me well. For me lots of their words are cut off and for the person receiving my call it sounds like I'm in a storm outside with heavy wind as there is a lot of background static like noise. Started happening about 3 weeks ago. I've never dropped the phone or anything like that.

Also, there are times if I were to put my phone to sleep by pressing the power button it will not wake up back if I were to try to wake it back up. I would have 2 play around with the power and volume keys pressed together for a few minutes then eventually the phone will boot up (not wake up but boot up even though I never turned it off). Both problems started happening around the same time.

If I record a video with sound it also sounds bad... just like the phone calls sound bad. Sounds more and more like a hardware issue 2 me.

Has anyone experienced this problem with this phone and what is the solution? Also what's the warranty on these phones and where do I take it to get it fixed? I'm with freedom mobile and I essentially pay a monthly fee to slowly own my phone out right. Kind of like leasing to own.

There could be multiple causes for this... just a fyi WhatsApp it connected by your data so could be a bad signal
I would start by checking your hardware.. Mic...speaker etc etc
Contact your carrier and see what they have to say...
lastly contact Samsung service

this is most definitely a network issue. making calls on my n8 is crystal clear especially when HD calls are activated/ detected. whatsapp is dependant on quality of your data.

1. try clearing system cache
2. remove SIM and reboot then insert
3. try someone else's SIM on another network to confirm hardware or network.
4. check you case for blocked Mic etc

I don't c how it can be a network issue as it happens even if I use wattsapp through my wifi. I'll give the steps recommend above a try though.

I don't have issues with my Note 8. Excellent in every way (except the Bixby). It's an issue with your carrier. Try to change phone provider.

You might need to hard reset your phone if not contact the company that you bought your phone from.

Not sure about Power/Wake up issue but call quality seems to be Network related. I have a friend on Freedom and I know it sucks to have a conversation with poor sound and call drops

The garbled or spotty whatsapp call is an issue with whatsapp itself, I have seen this issue on my Note 3, my wife's Galaxy S6 edge, my son's S8 and even on iDevices, it's a VOIP call quality issue that I have complained to whatsapp about quite often. As for the phone shutting off, before you go through any RMA or warranty procedure, do yourself a favor, uninstall all the apps that you had previously installed on your Note 8. I have had this issue happen with two separate apps. One was a document capture app, which was free and I believe conflicted with the Note 8's own doc capture wares and the other was a free app with aggressive ads, really really aggressive ads. on big occasions I uninstalled the apps and the problem went away. Yes, I monitor my phone like an over zealous hawk. Down volume and power button dance all the way! I still love my Note, it's worth every single penny.
