Not really sure whats happening but lately my fingerprint scanner sometimes doesn't wanna work from the AOD.
its random but sometimes when i try to scan my print the screen dims and it won't scan. Just keeps saying to press longer. Even if i hold my finger there. How can i fix this?

Good to hear, but AOD really shouldn't have any effect on the Ultrasonic Finger Print Scanner.. it's more likely to be a coincidence that it's working okay now, more likely that the other suggestions are what actually resulted in any improvement. 👍

I'm having the same exact issue. Started this morning last software update was 2 days ago.

Things done already

No screen protector.

Restarted

Rebooted

Wiped partition cache; rebooted

Removed stored fingerprints

Cleaned screen, cleaned thumbs

Tried diagnostic under Samsung Members app- doesn't work because the diagnostic tool can't read my finger print!

Result:

Now cannot register new fingerprints- same error "Press a little longer".

It's like the scanner times out after 1 seconds.

None of the presented solutions works. Hoping a Lvl 5 expert has some other tricks.

Thanks!

Did you eventually get your problem sorted? I'm sitting with exact same challenge.

I have the exact same issue. None of the previously provided solutions has worked.

Cannot set up new print or diagnosis because print scanner continues to error "Press a little longer". It's like the scanner is timing out.

Thoughts?

Same case here, at the some time - I suppose after update.

I try every solutions, except full wipe of - nothing worked, just "Press a little longer" at register or test suite.

In my opinion its software problem.

Hi all,

I had faced with the same problem as well. The error was just asking me to place my fingerprint longer.

But is just won't work, I try to reset all setting (not factory setting) still won't work & can't register new fingerprint now.

@JDelii may we know what you try on the AlwaysOnDisplay make it work again?

Thank you!

I had this same problem so I made a bunch of changes in setting and now it's working fine i guess. If u still face the issue my method might help.

Open settings > Apps (select show all system apps from the top right corner)
> Search biometrics and open the app
In the biometrics app:
Step-1> Storage > clear cache
Step-2> battery > select unrestricted access
(Do both these steps)

Now turn off power saving mode and reboot the device.
This method worked for me hope this helps u guys to<3
