Hello Guys, I am new to this forum.
I am from Austria and i have a very specific problem

I own a Galaxy S8 in Midnight Black.
I've used 3 different original Samsung cases, which i no longer like because they are so hard to pull out of the pocket.
Now i am using a silicone 3rd Party Case together with a ZAGG Plastic Screen protector (used original Samsung one's previously)
I own the phone now for about half a year and the first two weeks i did not have any protection whatsoever on it.
I did not drop it, and it has _always_ been in my pocket alone, which means: no keys/coins/dirt/dust just my phone.
If it was not in my pocket, it was lying on a table screen facing upwards.
I payed a lot of attention not to scratch the screen.
But still After two weeks with no protection, it has countless Microscratches which would not rub off.
Then I had a original Screenprotector from Samsung for a couple of months (Side note: The protector was aligned perfectly with not bubbles or dust caught under it).
After I pulled it off i saw a rather big scratch which is visible even if the screen is on and right where the edges start to flex,
(you know edge left and right side these curves) there are microscratches from the very top to the very bottom. Just right there where the edges start.
So how did even more Micro-/Scratches appear if i even had a protector on it.

I contacted local Samsung Support but they would not believe me and said that it was my fault.
I mean its not that bad - my friend has a S6 Edge Plus and the WHOLE F*CKING SCREEN is full of scratches (not lying!)
So how is this even possible? Paying 500€ + 200€ (handed old phone in) for a phone and than this.

Side note: My previous phone was the A5 2016 and i treated it the very same way i do with the S8.
And it had not a single microscratch - and i had absolutely no screen protector on it - only a silicon case - what does this mean? Cheaper phones have a higher quality?
Really disappointed.

PS: Sorry for my bad english skills.

It's very hard to judge without knowing all the micro details. I own an S8+, it's almost a year and I don't use any screen protector or case. In total I dropped it 3 times as I recall, and I use it heavily. No scratches or dents whatsoever on the screen as of yet.

Yeah as RichMan said, it's hard to gauge why your devices has scratches. I have the Note 8 and no screen protector just a regular case on it and it's in mint condition after a few face drops too. I had the S8+ for awhile as well and nothing on that as well.

Those things are pure random. My S7 has scratches without being in contact with anyhting harder than 5 on the Mohs scale of hardness (Gorilla Glass 4 can only be scratched on 6), but that was before I dropped it once. Dropped, but did not shatter. My dad's S7 dropped the second day he bought it and shattered. It's purely random

Hey @Jakob! Welcome to our community first! I am sorry to hear your experience with our device. On the top of what @RichMan, @Jonathan34, and @CHMultimedia said, the micro scratches are always possible to come from your pockets! Thanks for your feedback!

I'm going to chime in. it's seems that the G5 glass is not as resilient as the G3 or g4 glass. I believe it has something to do with curved glass. when glass is tempered or hardened, it's best when it's flat so there is an even distribution throughout the glass. I'm of the opinion that the curved edges can actually make the glass more prone the cracking depending on the angle of impact. As for scratches, there are too many unknowns to fully understand the OP circumstance. pocket debris is the most likely cause even if he thought his pocket was empty.

@Jakob - You'd be surprised that even though you don't feel like there's anything in your pockets - Micro Scratches come from micro particles and unless you are extremely OCD I find it hard to believe that there's not even any "dust" in your pockets..I've been using a Spigen Tempered GLAStR since day 1 - before my phones even get close to my pockets - Result is that there is absolutely zero scratches - abrasions - nicks - cracks or anything else on my screens.. 😉🐧

Thank you everyone for your comments
But how was it possible then, that after i removed the protector, there were more scratches than before?
