Recently, I was working abroad in Europe. I have a newer S9+ that I have been very happy with and rely on alot as I travel frequently for work.

Yesterday, I turned off airplane mode abroad and the phone connected to the network, I walked outside to receive a better signal, when I looked down I saw an android logo saying "erasing", phone rebooted, and I had to start a factory reset.

Some of my data was saved in a backup, but I lost months of home videos and pictures. This all happened without my consent or knowledge.

To be expected, I am beyond frustrated and reconsidering my choice with Samsung. If this happened going through an airport, etc. And I lost all my information I would be in a tough spot.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

The one & ONLY time that I've had a spontaneous Factory Reset - On ANY Samsung device Was my OWN fault - New phone & I set it up before I inserted the SIM - Never otherwise 🐧

I've been using phone for almost 4 months, never had an issue. I'm trying to think of something I did that could have made it happen.
I cant, it caught me completely offguard

I just met same issue. When the airplane I took almost arrived at U.S, I found android logo with erase data message automatically shown on my s9+ then the phone went into factory reset protection mode need wifi to verify but hotel wifi and other wifi can not pass verification with no reason. The phone just can not be used in my whole trip. After I backed from trip to home, I can only use home wifi to verify but factory reset was already done. This issue ruined whole trip. Still worry about next trip will automatically factory reset again.

Can't believe that no collective action had been settled for this case! A hard automatic reset that ruins tons of precious datas !
