My Samsung S22, which isn't even fully paid off yet, has been doing this amazing thing and dying within 15 minutes or so once it gets to around or  just under 50%. Last night it died on me while I was sleeping and it was in sleep mode.  Nothing was happening on it!  I fully charged this morning then within 3 hours it died completely and I was don't even think it was near 50%.  I was trying to take a picture it is just crapped out and died.  I've checked my battery usage, which is optimized and upon looking at what was running since last full charge, it had only used about 5% since my last full charge.  What is happening and is there anything I can do to fix? Everything looks optimized and nothing that I can see running in the background and unused apps are in deep sleep.

When I look at the chart for when my phone dies, it's almost every day when it gets to about 50%...super discouraging and unreliable!

It sounds like you need a new battery in your device

If you are close to a Samsung service center you should get your device checked out

Hi cathywithac,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience unexpected shutdowns. Based on your description, it’s possible that your battery calibration or health may be affected.

To troubleshoot, we recommend the following:

Check Battery Health – You can do this in the Samsung Members app under Diagnostics > Battery Status to see if the battery is in good condition.

Recalibrate the Battery – Fully charge your phone to 100%, use it until it shuts down automatically, then charge it back to 100% without interruptions. Repeat this a few times to help recalibrate the battery.

Test in Safe Mode – If the issue persists, boot your device into Safe Mode to check if a third-party app is causing excessive drain.

If no improvement is seen, backing up your data and performing a factory reset may help resolve the issues with your device.

If the problem continues, we recommend visiting a Samsung Authorized Service Center for further inspection.

Hi Helenna,
Thank you for helping me out.  I' do leave my phone plugged in until 100%, but I'll give this a try again and just make sure my phone dies every time before charging--hard to do when it's happening in the middle of the day and life also needs to happen, but it's worth a shot.

It says my batter status is "normal" and "Life: Good."

I'll start with these steps and see what happens. So much appreciate your help and avoiding having to spend hours in the cell phone store... for now:).

Thank you,
Cathy
