Hey everyone,

not sure if this is a bug, or it is suppose to be like this. Just to confirm, I love the Smart Select feature, it is so much better than screen shot, but just the one extracting text issue bugs me...Hoping someone can confirm if they experience the same issue as I do. Please see below..

Every time I use Smart Select with the Rectangle or Oval screenshot and try to Share it via Messages, it automatically adds all the text from the image. Hoping there is a way to turn that off.
Also just to clarify, I'm not doing a screenshot. I'm swiping on the Edge until I get to Smart Select then I have 4 options:

Rectangle
Oval
Animation
Pin to Top

If I pick Rectangle or Oval, it gives me an option to adjust the size, then press Done. Then it has an Extract Text button on top (that I don't press) and options below, I just hit Share, then pick Messages to send a SMS and it has the picture and all the text, so I have to delete all the text just to send the image. The only work around I have found it tapping the "draw" and then hit share. Even if I dont draw anything, I have to tap draw first and then hit share so its like an extra step.

Not sure if this is happening to everyone but can someone please try on there end and let me know what the find.

thank you so much!20f42b48-2dd3-4e33-bc2d-ebf892584a33.jpg

Yeah just tested it and I get the same thing, i tried looking for settings but couldn't find anything, I think the only thing that can be done is to save the image and then share it. Haven't tried that but I don't believe the extracted text should appear with that way.

if you tap on draw and then send it, it won't extract text. even if you don't draw anything just tap draw to go into the "drawing mode" then send it. no text gets extracted

I just had my phone sg21Ultra5g upgraded to ui4 and the Smart select no longer allows text extraction at all.

Found an answer to my problem.

You now have to hit the T button instead of the Extract button which has disappeared with the ui4 update. Seems to have the same capability.

I make use of the extract function quite a bit and would be lost without it.

Phew!  Thanks Samsung!
