The Samsung S24 Ultra has terrible scrolling lag.

Google Discover and News Feed have terrible lag.

But so do some apps and websites.

There is even animation lag when using the multitasking amd switching between apps, with stuttering.

I thought one ui 6.1 was the smoothest?

This was never an issue on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Not to mention the launch day issues of:
  • No true vivid mode. Screen colors look dull and faded.
  • The phone does not reach the 2000 nits of brightness.
  • The camera is not better than the S23 Ultra.
I can look over all of that, but I cannot tolerate the scroll lag.

I have attached a video.

Hi Thanks Ben,

1) Can I return for a warranty to exchange for a new device that doesn't have the scroll lags?

2) Has this issue been reported and escalated to the Samsung team for a fix? Or a software upgrade that will fix it?

I also cleared the app cache but still scroll lags!

Also how do we clear cache for the built in Google Discover News Feed? (when accessed by swiping left on home screen)

Thanks

To Clear the Cache for Discover..

Settings > Apps Search for Google App (Discover is part of it) & Click on it and Scroll down to Storage & Clear Cache.

Hi auralight,

We recommend contacting Samsung Online Support for a better answer regarding the warranty. If the scrolling lag only occurs on some apps/websites, then there might be no indication of hardware defect.

We also have communicated this to the relevant team. Although we can't guarantee it, hopefully, the next software update will fix the issue.

You may also help us by reporting/submitting an 'Error report' through the Samsung Members app so the team will receive proper information on the issue. The more users report this issue, the quicker developers will get notified and find a solution.

Thank you again for helping us!

Thanks, Ben, for the reply. You can imagine that after spending $1500, you woule expect a flagship experience. I hope this is fixed and thanks again for escalating this.

You can try going into the developer options, then go to the draw section. You can set it to high.

Turn off all visual or enhancement functions.

I only use adaptive at 120hz when I watch videos, except for YouTube.

I know it's silly, but I guess we need to give the Koreans time to wake up.

Any updates on this? I just set up my new S24+ today and also experience the same issue on the latest software version. It's not only in apps, it's everywhere including Settings and the home screen.

One place now where I am consistently able to reproduce it, is when multitasking. There is a stutter before the next app comes into view. Very frustrating. I also don't think recording it works. Bc the phone is doing 120hz amd screen recorder is 30fps. So it's not able to capture the stutter

It feels like a software issue for sure, because if you keep your thumb pressed on to the screen while scrolling, instead of lightly flicking and lifting it, the scrolling choppiness seems to go away. It's strange. Also the first time I set up the phone with a smart switch transfer from the s23u, it felt considerably smoother and snappier. I made the error of factory resetting it and manually reinstalling all my data. Since then the choppy scrolling is back, sigh.

Two fixes I have found have been to turn off RAM plus, and to activate touch sensitivity unde the display settings. I also seemed to have made it smoother by making only the "Transition Animation scale" 0.5x, under the developer settings.
