Hi Samsung,

I have recently purchased a Samsung S22 Ultra with you on Feb 12 2022. When I placed the order on your website, I requested a trade-in with my old Samsung device S8 Plus 64GB. The estimated value of the S8 Plus is $50 + $300 promotional trade-in credits.

So I received the new phone last week, and I went to your trade portal SamsungUpgrade.ca to complete the trade-in submission. I enter the S8 Plus IMEI, and the new S22 Ultra IMEI. Originally I was told to upload the Proof Of Purchase of my S22 Ultra, so I did that, and Assurant rejected my submission because I "did not" provide the correct Proof of Purchase. I called customer care and the gentlemen advised me to upload the Proof of Purchase of my S8 Plus instead.

Okay, so I re-submitted the trade-in request with my Original Sales Receipt that I got via email from Rogers when I bought the phone back in 2017. This morning, I got another email from Assurant saying that they have once again rejected my trade-in request because my Proof of Purchase does not meet the program requirement. What is this? the S8 Plus receipt I uploaded has my name, the date I bought it, the store information, the model and IMEI of the S8 Plus, the amount I paid for the S8 Plus.

What else do I need to provide for this trade-in? Is this a scam ?

Regards,

Simon

Hi simonh54, Just to confirm, are you trying to upload carrier agreement?

Hi Brantley, yes I uploaded the Rogers agreement that I got via email when I did the hardware upgrade with Rogers at their retail store. That was the only sales invoice they gave me when I bought the S8 Plus.

Thanks

Simon

I requested the trade during pre-order, and they never sent me any waybill, not in the inbox and nothing in junk mail.

Does anyone know how I can file an official complaint to the Samsung head office for this? This is absolutely unacceptable.

Hi simonh54, Unfortunately, the carrier agreement cannot be accepted as bill of sale. We suggest you to contact our dedicated online shopping team support via phone, chat so that they will help you with further options regarding the trade-in.

I am thinking you are screwed! Trade in with Scamsung is the worst thing ever! Always best to sell privately. Only apple does trade in good!

Imagine after ONE month I am still in contact with Samsung trying to resolve this. I am very frustrated and mad for the time I have spent on this $350.

I wish I had known. I had good trade-in experience with Apple in the past and therefore tried with Samsung. It could not have been further from expectations. I sent them an iPhone XR which they quoted me a value of 210$ for. Many weeks after the device had been sent, I get an email that they are adjusting it to 84$. I check the attached pictures. Nothing is wrong with the device.

I contact Samsung costumer service and they say they will escalate. I am told to just hang tight. Well, after two weeks of waiting (and checking on status with Samsung in the meantime), I get an email from Assurant that I have "accepted" the adjusted value since I have not responded! I contact Samsung again and this time the agent tells me that my device was verified "damaged".

Such a scam.
