Just need some clarification on an unknown app I saw on my phone called "Files". I was unable to uninstall it and could only disable it, so I did since I already use the Samsung My Files application.

Today curiosity got the best of me and that disabled "Files" app crossed my mind and I wondered what it was about, since I didn't initially investigate it at all.

So I went into -setting-apps- found that disabled "Files" app and tried to enable it again, only to find out that there was no enable option.

Questions:

(1) What is the Files app on my S24 Ultra and should I have disabled it?

(2) Is there a way to enable it again?

(3) Can someone explain why there was a "Files App" and "My Files App" both on my phone?

Nah. I have a secure folder open, and I have no issues with the secure folder.

I believe that it's a relic of Google's Files app. You'll notice that it takes up hardly any storage. You Can't open it, or interact with it..

Eventually it will likely just disappear from your system.. it doesn't actually do anything.

Actually, I can open and interact with it. I was able to enable it again.

What is the version number of the Files app on your device?

It is not accessible on my S25 Ultra.

Has your S24 updated to One UI V7.0?

The only explanation I can think of, is that native One UI V7.0 doesn't allow access because of security policies?

I have re-enabled the application, and it shows as installed; however, the uninstall option is absent, with only a disable option available. Upon opening, the application functions as expected, allowing file browsing. However, its configuration differs from the Samsung My Files application.
