I've recently read that Google Messages is planning on rolling out encryption under the RCS updates. Is there anything that Samsung is considering to match the improvement that Googlenis planning for the RCS under Google Messages?
Also, if someone wanted to change from Samsung Messages to Google Messages what would be required to be able to benefit from the RCS? I've considered doing it, but when I set Google Messages as default,  it tells me that my phone (Samsung Galaxy A50, running Android 10) is not compatible with the chat (RCS) functionality.
Thanks, and I hope that everyone is staying safe and enjoyed the past weekend.

Don't know what Samsung is planning to do with Samsung Messages - But you should certainly be able to use Google Messages (I have been far years on every device).
Where do you see that Google Messages is compatible?

here is what I am getting as a message with regards to the chat features. I know that they do, as I've been using it in the Samsung Messages app since I have had this phone. I am with Bell.

I still can't find an answer to this question in 2023, which is horrible.

What are you specifically referring to, Encryption, switching from Samsung Messages to Google Messages, or?

The answers to these questions are pretty much known at this point.

And people who are still using Samsung's Messages are being advised to switch to Google Messages, and yes Google's RCS Messages are encrypted, if your Carrier supports RCS. I know that Rogers does.

What version of Google Messages do you have installed on your device?
Google Messages is compatible with Rogers - So not sure why you get this from Bell?
This is the version of Google Messages I have installed.

Bell has RCS (identified as Advanced Messaging) and I've been using it via the Samsung Messages app for a while now.

Can you click on Settings - Chat Features?
The version you have SHOULD work just fine - Unless it's a Carrier issue - But that doesn't really make any sense.

in discussion with Bell, the RCS only works on the phone's stock messages app at this time. likely something t ok be rolled out in the future.
