Should I or not for the Note20ultra?  I never did for the Note9 or the Z flip..advise? Opinions?  Is it worth it? I have read a lot of stories now where it ends up being a nightmare when claimed. Bad techs, bad service and what not.

TIA

Hi IfLySoLO,

I've seen a number horror stories about samsung care and service department over the past few years of me being about of this community. what I don't understand is if samsung is "so committed" to customer satisfaction then why do these bad experiences happen? instead of shipping a device back and forth with the customer in some cases several times because the customer isn't satisfied with the repair. send the customer a new device. 🤷🏻♂️ samsung has so much money 💰. besides most samsung devices cost what maybe $400 at most to build?. so samsung wouldn't be really losing any money over it. considering samsung has literally given away dozens of note 20 ultras to brand ambassadors. besides Apple replaces devices on the spot, because they know a happy customer is a returning customer. maybe samsung should take a page of apple book of business. they just need to think of the customer experiences.

Some credit cards already give you free warranties against physical damage. Check the length covered though.

It's also a matter of how clumsy you are with your devices. Only breaking the back glass? Don't buy Care+. Tendency to get the front screen shattered or some kind of water damage? Care+ would save you quite a lot of cash.

True and if the phone stops working I doubt they did give me a new one anyways like Apple does..I never drop my phones and my electronics look like Day 1 even after 2 years. so physical not an issue.. its more like if the camera goes or something else. but I guess most of it would occur during the first year anyways lol

if you have enough money to buy a note 9 a zflip and a note 20 ultra why are you even asking about the warranty. you are going to replace it before the regular warranty runs out (1 year)

you don't know if I had money or if it was a gift or on a contract so keep your jealous opinions to yourself. Answer what has been asked and if you don't have an answer, no need for smartness. My money is my business. please and thanks.

But you have now suggested it wasn't your 💰...... here was my point yes with a bit of lightheartedness but it was actually serious if you weren't so easily offended. If you can come across those phones however you got them my guess is you will come across another another top tier phone again. The answer is in their if you sit back and think about it. (I have plenty of top tier phones so don't assume its jealously)

Now more to your point and a bit more tidbits to think about because you missed my point initially. The warranty costs money up front and only extends the manufacturer warranty by a year. Using the warranty also costs money. I did not buy it on my note 2 or 4, i did buy it on my note 8 and pixel 3, and did buy it on my note 20 ultra with 512gb of storage. I never had anything go wrong with the note 2 or 4 or pixel 3 that would have benefited from a warranty. On the note 8 they replaced the front screen once but didn't replace the cracked glass over the cameras at the same time. They said it still passed the testing for dust resistance and water repellancy. so yes while they did the repair relatively quick it certainly wasn't make it like it new as they advertised when I bought the phone. Then the screen got broken again right after the two years was up.

So in short pros and cons. I would say if you are going to be punishing on your phone get it but don't believe them when they will say they will fix it like new all the time. Also they wanted to charge a fee up front to do the diagnostics before they would say it was going to be covered. I said its a clearly broken screen so it better be covered and I want to know why the other electronics based issues are happening. eg. decreased range with Bluetooth devices and a couple of other things. they never answered the questions beyond the broken screen saying it passed all the tests. So why did I buy it on the note 20 ultra? Because they offered $75 back if your spend over $200 and that included if it was the extended warranty. so it made it more reasonable.

Hi @IfLySoLO i Have been working at Samsung Authorized service centre for past few years and i know we always put customer first and make sure the repair is done 100% according to Samsung standards and submitting the claims is very easy process no trouble at all. so i would definitely recommend the samsung extended device care as repair without insurance will definitely be more than $400. you can contact samsung care or ask me for any question.
