I'm not sure if this happened on the latest update but when I first fire up my tablet in the morning, the recent apps default to apps I rarely use. Eg. The calculator is shown on my recent apps and I never use it.
Is there some setting to keep my recent apps to my RECENT APPS or did some genius dev decide what recent apps I should be using.

If you click Recent app (3 bars) on bottom left button -> 3 dots on top right -> Settings

Turn off "Show recommended apps"

I think that should resolve your problem.Screenshot_20230214_074816_One UI Home_1000023515_1676386096.jpgScreenshot_20230214_074801_One UI Home_1000023514_1676386081.jpg

Maybe they are seeing something different happening, but I've noticed more than a few times, after I Power On or Reboot my device, the Accuweather app opens automatically.

This is a new phenomenon, and Accuweather isn't in my Recents.

It resembles what you would see in Windows, with programs that are set to start automatically.

Accuweather isn't a default app either.

Just haven't been bothered to investigate why.. yet lol

When I turn off recommended apps, it shows no recent apps at all. That's actually fine with me.
There's what I see in the morning before I run anything. Useless!!
That show recommended apps is not even what happens during the day. It shows my history.
The button should be called:
"Show my history except in the morning when it shows unused apps that I could care less about. "Screenshot_20230215_060054_One UI Home.jpg

Interesting. I have recent app even recommended app turned off. If this is not the solution for you, you can remove the accepted solution.

Do you mean recent app not show recent used apps? After used the app, it never showed on recent app, am I understand correctly?

Also, I want to make sure, are you talking about the bottom apps in recent apps? Those 4 apps are recommended apps, some apps will appear there after use. But not all, for instance, Raw Expert won't appear in recommended apps.

Here is one more suggestion. If you go to Settings -> Device Care -> Battery

Turn off Put unused app to sleep. Will your apps remain under recent apps?Screenshot_20230215_084332_One UI Home_1000023542_1676475812.jpg

I really need to put this to bed. The solution, for me, was just to turn off the recommended apps button. I never used it anyway. I was just annoyed at why apps that I never used were in that list.
Why does it reset ever night?
Why Dr McCoy is always on the **bleep** bridge? 🙄

I hope that worked. Always learning. It still is funny that all day my recent apps are there .... only over night do the goofy ones show up 😀

I don't think that's the reason. I have "Show Recommended Apps" Toggled ON, and the only apps that ever appear in Recents, are the Apps that I opened recently.

Like I said, to me it looks similar to Startup Programs in Windows.

Well I'll have to wait overnight to see if it worked for me.

Told you, I didn't think that would be the solution.

It's difficult to say from the screen shot, but this is what you have when you power up your device?

If so, even though it doesn't entirely make sense, it is possible that if you are using One UI Home, and the desktop is not "locked", ie: Icon placement is not locked, that the arrangement of your desktop icons moved.. but still should not be happening like this.

Long Press on an empty part of the screen & click on the One UI Home Settings (gear icon), and check to see if you have "Lock Home Screen Layout" Toggled ON (screen shot it is Off).

If it's off on your device, Toggle it On & see if that fixes the issue for you?
